About this piece

Blue Nova is the largest work in the current series — a blue-raspberry soda invented as a small explosion, deep cobalt bleeding up into mint green with a hand-painted starburst wrapping the label. At 52 cm it is a floor- or plinth-scale object, roughly 90 hours of acrylic painting on a 3D-printed form. This is where the practice sits closest to the collectible pop-art lineage of KAWS and Koons: an everyday package, monumentalized and hand-finished, priced as an accessible fraction of those artists' editions.

How was it made?

Like every Cansy piece, the can is 3D-printed and then painted entirely by hand — here across some 90 hours — and sealed. The design language comes straight out of Cansy's beverage-label career: this is packaging design pushed all the way into fine art. More on how the sculptures are made →
